Mixed-Up Teaser

I'm very excited about this week's Teaser Tuesday post. I just finished up a fantastic book, Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead (review coming this morning), and am poised to begin reading a quirky book that a lot have commented on that they're interested in seeing reviewed and/or finding more about it.

Love is a Mix Tape is a memoir/love story/coping mechanism that tells the story of Rob's love for his wife Renee who died suddenly of a brain aneurysm told as a deconstruction of a series of mix tapes. Their love is described thusly: "It was when a shy music geek named Rob Sheffield met a hell-raising Appalachian punk-rock girl named Renee, who was way too cool for him but fell in love with him anyway. He was tall. She was short. He was shy. She was a social butterfly. She was the only one who laughed at his jokes when they were so bad, and they were always bad. They had nothing in common except that they both loved music. Music brought them together and kept them together. And it was music that would help Rob through a sudden, unfathomable loss."

With that being said, here's a teaser from Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield:
"I realize it's frowned on to choose a mate based on something superficial like the music they love. But superficiality has been good to me," (p. 72).
It killed me to stop with the quote there because he has some really great stuff about how similar tastes in music is humans' equivalent of recognizing each other's scents in the Animal Kingdom.

@Dawn - I'll be posting a review later this weekend... and there will be a good number of quotes (I'll probably flesh this one out more).
